Young Angels
-
The Young Angels program, which started in 2000, continues our Bright Lights and Theatre Camp philosophy of training. The purpose of the Company is to provide the dynamic opportunity to be part of a “resident” young actor’s “wing” of a professional Equity Theatre Company.
The program was founded under the direction of award-winning and Tony-nominated actress Lenka Peterson, who received the 2002 Long Wharf Theatre’s Mary Hunter Wolf Award as a Distinguished Theatre Educator. Our goal is to serve the youth of the community by providing a safe outlet for their creative energies and an opportunity to strengthen each actor’s individual ability in an ensemble experience. The Young Angels Theatre Company is the only resident youth training company in Connecticut under the guidance and training of a professional Equity theater.
Twenty students (ages 14-18) are invited to be part of this in-residence theatre company for young adults. The students are chosen from our Bright Lights and Camp programs.
The Company meets once a week for 25 weeks. The program ends in May 2007. Classes will be at Seven Angels Theatre. Along with weekly training sessions, complimentary tickets will be given to each student to attend all the productions at Seven Angels. Young Angel members are also accepted into the annual Bright Lights program without an audition. There is a tuition attached to the program. Tuitions are waived for students who cannot afford the expense.
